Initiative for Rural Library

The Rural Library, initiated by Sree Ayyappa College, was established to promote reading and learning among rural communities. The project, led by the college’s NSS unit and Literary Club, began after a series of planning meetings and focused on collecting a wide range of books for all age groups. The library became a centre for education, culture, and community engagement.

In its second phase, with the support of alumni, teachers, and local community members, the library expanded into a two-room building. NSS volunteers cleaned, painted, and organized the space, adding new books and creating a comfortable reading area. This phase enhanced the library’s facilities and atmosphere, reflecting the power of teamwork and the college’s commitment to promoting literacy and education in rural areas.
